LDI Retreat (Mandatory):Participate in the LDI Leadership Retreat, which is TBD. This will be the launch for the yearlong training process and the initiation of your relationships with your Fellows cohort, as well as the LDI Executive Committee and mentors. The weekend will consist of activities and discussions that will focus broadly on leadership development and skills as a person of color in the field of mental health. Presidential Residency:Complete a Presidential Residency that involves shadowing your president at all appropriate association functions and meetings, as well as developing and/or leading a presidential project or initiative that benefits the association.
Fellows Project: Collaborate with your Fellows cohort in designing and completing a team-based leadership project designed to benefit your association and/or racial-ethnic community
Guest Mentors: Engage directly and informally with Diverse Leaders who will share of their own experiences, knowledge, and wisdom. This is your opportunity to ask questions, discuss your concerns, and be informed by those who have "been there." Topics such as negotiating politics in the organization, running for a leadership position, and self-care as a leader of color are just some of the things may arise in our discussions.
Presidential Discussions: Participate in informal leadership discussions hosted by the Presidents of each of the sponsoring associations that are designed to be a “behind-the-scenes” opportunity to gain insights into the life experiences and professional leadership trajectories of association Presidents
Leadership Plan:Develop a personal leadership plan designed to facilitate your entry into an emerging leadership role within your home association with the help and insights of your mentor.
Mentoring Others:Serve as a mentor to Fellows in subsequent cohorts to extend the support that you have received.
